Project Background:

This short video was designed for specific use to a specific audience - in this particular case as a tool to appeal directly to potential 6th Formers at the prestigious Dean Close School in Cheltenham. Our challenge first was to fully understand the appeal of the school to current and previous students before translating this into a video piece that would excite and enthuse an audience.

What we delivered:

The first task with a project of this type is to understand our audience. In this particular case we had the privilege of having direct access to people who were, a matter of only months previously, had been looking at their options for the 6th Form - namely current Dean Close students themselves. It was only after a Questions and Answers meeting with a selection of the students that we felt comfortable to put forward what we felt was a comprehensive Working Brief. The Brief we prepared, based on information from this research and our own creative suggestions, looked to 'break down' the offering at Dean Close into four key areas - Academia, Sport, The Arts and The Community. We focused on striking a balance between the incredible attraction of the facilities at Dean Close and the underpinning sense of ambition and happiness that pervades the school. Each of the four 'chapters' of the video presents a mixture of key imagery, testimony of staff and students and carefully written voiceover by an appropriately aged voice artist. After presenting our very well-received first edit of the video we took the chance again to consult our audience and made further amendments to our final Master seen here on the recommendation of students themselves.

What the client said:

We have used Affixxius over the last couple of years to produce a number of specialist video clips covering various areas of School life. I like their fresh, modern approach to editing with some fun ideas of how to present the footage. They are also a great crowd to work alongside, with no issues around the long, unsociable hours required to capture all the activities within a busy boarding school.
